Something not working?

Write to hello@sylence.app. It is an email address rather than a contact form, because a form is one more thing that can quietly break. One person reads it, so replies are not instant — but they are from the person who wrote the app.

If you are reporting a problem, the useful things to include are your phone model, your Android version, and what you were doing when it happened. If the sound stopped, whether the screen was off matters.

The sound stopped overnight

This is the most common report and it is almost never a bug in the app — it is Android shutting Sylence down to save battery. Samsung does this most aggressively, and Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei and OnePlus all have their own versions of it.

The fix is to tell Android to leave Sylence alone:

Sylence offers to do this for you the first time you use a sleep timer — the prompt sends you to the right settings screen. If you dismissed it, the path above is the same place.

Sylence deliberately never takes audio focus and never pauses for interruptions, so it keeps playing under a podcast, a video or a call. That is by design, not a fault. If it is competing with something rather than sitting under it, lower the volume in Sylence rather than raising it.

I bought Pro and it did not unlock

Open Pro in the app and tap Restore purchase. That re-checks with Google Play and is the fix in almost every case — usually the purchase went through on a different Google account, or the app could not reach Play at the moment it checked.

Two things worth knowing before you worry:

If Restore purchase does not do it, email hello@sylence.app from the address you bought with, and Google Play's order number if you have it.

How do I delete my data?

In the app: Profile → Erase my data. It permanently removes your pitch match and its history, your diary, impact checks, quiet-test results and every setting, from the device, immediately. There is no undo and no copy anywhere else, because there was never a copy anywhere else — none of it is ever uploaded. Your purchase is not affected.

If you might want any of it back, use Export my data first. There is also Export diary for your audiologist, which writes a CSV of your matched frequency, spike diary, sleep check-ins and impact scores — useful at an appointment, and yours to keep.

The full policy, and the deletion request route for anyone who no longer has the app installed, is on the privacy page.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. Sylence is Android only.

The honest reason is that it is one developer, and the useful thing to do with a small amount of time is make one platform good rather than two platforms adequate. An iOS build is not ruled out; it is behind getting the Android app right.

The tones are uncomfortable

Turn them down. There is no benefit to matching loudly — a pitch match works at a level that is barely audible, and the app's own guidance is to keep masking just under your tinnitus rather than over it.

If sound is genuinely painful rather than just annoying, that can be hyperacusis, and it is worth raising with an audiologist rather than working around it.

What this page cannot help with

Sylence is a masking and habituation-support tool, not a medical device, and nobody here can tell you what is causing your tinnitus. If it is new, sudden, in one ear only, pulsing in time with your heartbeat, or arriving with hearing loss or dizziness, see a doctor or an audiologist — sudden one-sided tinnitus in particular is worth urgent attention.
